Gold Recovery for organic material-my Recipee (Fats material)

Metal Recovery process-proof to be successful

Extracting Polysaccharides Chitin or chitosan to recover any metals--Methods references (APHA methods.....confidential)

pH can be adjusted using 1 N sodium hydroxide or 10% acetic acid.

The polysaccharides chitin or chitosan (1% w/v) were added into the flasks and submitted to orbital shaker at 200 rpm at 25ÂșC for 18 h.

The polysaccharides can be removed by filtration through a 0.45 mm Millipore membrane filter, and the metal concentrations in filtrates can be determined using an atomic absorption spectrophotometer.

The data can be used to calculate the number of moles of metal ion adsorbed per gram of biomaterials.

Any metal recovery can be calculated by using the equation below:
                                                                                                    q = Ci Cf / m

where: q = metal uptake; Ci = initial concentration; Cf = final concentration and m = polysaccharide concentration.
